This moisturizer can act as the best massaging cream that you can prepare on your own! Rosemary , grapefruit , cypress and Juniper are major oils suggested for cellulite. They are all fabulous for increasing blood circulation and flushing toxins from the skin, thereby improving the condition of the skin. Rosemary also has astringent properties, which helps in firming and toning of the skin. It nourishes skin and improves elasticity by producing more collagen, the protein which keeps skin elastic and tight.
The increase of fat or estrogen will reduce the production of this very protein resulting in cellulite, wrinkles and fine lines. Shea butter also contains a number of antioxidants that helps to fight aging. For the recipe, melt the shea butter in a glass bowl over a saucepan of boiling water as seen in the picture on the right or use a double boiler.
It goes deep into your skin pores and moisturizes thoroughly. Coconut oil is also rich in antioxidants, possesses anti-ageing properties and offer sun protection. It is also full of antioxidants and offer sun protection of up to 5 SPF. Grapeseed has astringent properties which result in skin tightening and toning. It makes a good replacement carrier oil for all nut oils. If you are allergic to nuts, replace almond oil with grapeseed oil. Frankincense Essential Oil — Frankincense is an excellent astringent that tightens skin and avoids clogged pores, that leads to acne.
It is a powerful anti-ageing oil that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Getting rid of cellulite
It also improves the elasticity of the skin. Just made this tonight added 20 drops of chocolate essence oil to the mixture and divine! Thank you for this divine recipe! Pls when mixing the coffee in a blender, is it okay to use hot water? Hope it will not crack by blender.. Try not to get any water in the jar to prevent it from spoiling. Does your coffee scrub every get moldy, I have tried making different ones in the past and it has gone moldy!
Coffee Body Scrub With Coconut Oil - The Coconut Mama
Thank you so much for this recipe. Can I use the coffee grinds after making coffee with them. Would it still have enough strength left in them. Do you worry about the coffee grounds clogging the drain? Thank you! Sam… Are you pregnant? Used coffee grounds will cause it to mold. Hi There, I want to make this fabulous coffee scrub as Christmas gifts. I really want to try this recipe! Can you tell me: 1. Does the coffee gets moldy?
Does the sugar get sticky on your skin? The coffee aroma is still nice and bold. I havent had any issues with mold. I make sure i only scoop 1 time with very clean hands as not to introduce bacteria. Usually i use jars but this is in plastic and still no problems. Thanks for posting! Please can you advise what the shelf life of the coffee bean body scrub is likely to be. I have made a batch up and am storing it in an airtight jar. Thank you in advance.
Adding salt or sugar will help with the shelf life. Coconut oil also has antimicrobial properties. Make sure the coffee stays as dry as possible. I relay want to feel the organic coconut oil benefits. I got dark marks on my face can it help in those? I love your site and info on cocnut. Please can you tell my how long the home made body products will last — i. Love the recipes. How long can we keep this scrub for? And do we have to store it in the fridge for it to stay good? I would strongly advise against using this every day. Even twice a week might be a bit too much for some people.
It will damage your skin if you overdo it, especially if you chose to make it with salt, which is more abrasive and also will suck the moisture right out of you. Absolutely gorgeous. Really amazing scrub. I suffer with horrendous eczema and extremely dry skin. I made this and although not a cure it was fabulous and my skin has been slightly improving ever since. Thank you very much xx.
I loved your recipe. I wanted to know the role of the sugar or salt in this recipe. Also, I was wondering whether we use sugar crystals or powdered sugar?
I sometimes use coconut oil to oil my hair. Will that do? Also powdered sugar will dissolve in the solution. Using raw sugar will give you the most course scrub where salt will result in a finer scrub. What is the best way to rinse coffee ground scrub as not to get it down the drain and clog it? Just made this yesterday morning. Poured it into pint aized mason jars. Smelled amazing! Followed the recipe just like it said. I have one slight issue though. Went to use the scrun later that night and after opening the lid, the top of the scrub was super dried out.
Anyone else experience this after making and how can I remedy this?

Wanted to give as gifts but not if its a dry blob. I wonder what Peppermint essential oil would be like to add to this instead of cinnamon and vanilla. I will have to experiment with it. You could try with extra virgin olive oil or Shea butter or a combination of the two — but the best effect would be the coconut oil. Love this recipe! Any trick to keeping coconut oil-based sugar scrubs from solidifying at room temperature?
I agree with another comment that said this will have a shelf life of about one week, unless you use a spoon to get it out of the jar. Especially if your using it in the shower. Hello… does this use fresh coffee grounds or the ones that have been used to make coffee already?
I find that this is a recipe for a very large amount, I cut down on the quantities and still found myself with two jam jars of it! I kept one jar in the shower where the mixture got wet several times and it is still in perfect condition! All in all, really good recipe , thank you!
Thaonguyen, coffee scrubs like this will last about a week. Ive been making one for over a year now and only once did I get lazy and about a week after I made it I opened the jar and it was molding. Sadly, one of the downfalls to homemade goodness- but definately worth it to not be putting chemicals and preservatives into your bloodstream.
I considered selling it at farmers markets but decided not to when I witnessed how quickly it can expire. Did u use fresh grounds or used grounds? Just grounds straight from the package. The other warning was to try and avoid allowing any water to get into the scrub. How long can i store this body scrub?
